painted black and has some missing from the skeg. Seems
complete otherwise and mechanically sound.

start, long shaft parts motor. The powerhead is a 1970-71
Merc 400 with no compression on the bottom cylinder. It is
missing the top cowl and rewind starter, front and wraparound
cowls, and the charging system rectifier. The lower unit is
from a 1974 Merc 402 Ser. #3863671 long shaft and feels good
and shifts properly. It has a 3 blade aluminum prop on it.
This lower unit would also be correct for a 50hp of this

1.78-1 gear ratio that is correct for these engines. There is

exhaust, and includes the upper shift shaft. It does not have
the reverse lock assembly.

shaft. It was used with power trim, so it doesn’t have
reverse hooks but does have the tilt limit strap for power
trim. The grips are gone from the thumb screws. This would
work with most 65 to 110 hp models in the late 60’s to about
72.

off. The top swivel bushing needs replacement. Has very nice
rubber grips on the thumb screws. Shafts turn fine and
smoothly. Powerheads ranging from 15 to 20 cubic inch Mercs
and Wizards and even early 22 cubic inch engines can work on
this.

50hp short shaft lower unit only. This is the style gear
housing with the side water intakes. It appears a prop was
installed without a thrust hub and the prop cut into the
gearcase taking out the bearing carrier retainer and the
threads in the housing. I am including a second lower unit
that is stuck but the housing looks good except for a bit off
the tip of the skeg. This should supply the basics of making
one good one from the two.

longshaft parts motor? Ser. #1414918. This was the top of the
line in 61. The powerhead seems complete and decent and seems
to have compression on all cylinders. There is no front cowl
but the chrome letters on the top cowl are all there. The
steering is stuck, the cover for the starboard lower rubber
mount and the clamp pads are gone and there are a couple of
chips out of the spray plates on the drive shaft housing.
The prop is in bad shape. The skeg is broken and it does not
have reverse. The lowerunit feels like it has rough bearings.

hp engines. It has a little broken off the skeg. It seems
fine otherwise except for pretty badly worn splines at the top
of the drive shaft. I’ll include another poor drive shaft
that has much better splines. The 2 shafts can be cut and
the better spline welded to the original shaft. This could be
converted to short shaft at the same time if desired.

It has an incorrect flush plug, a cracked port side rubber
